THE LEMONS

They sit in my fridge and I feel comforted to know that they will liven up any dish, bring hope to a lost and lonely salad leaf and bring the zing to my gin and tonic. They are my fall back.
Friends are like lemons. They may not always feature but they are always there. I may not always need them but they will spring to my rescue when the time calls. So what happens when you move to the other side of the World? As much as I would have liked to have packed them up, placed them neatly in my shipping container it was not possible and therefore I am here and they are there!

I moved to Canada in July  2011 with my husband and two children.

I always felt it was pretentious to blog. Why would anyone be interested in reading what I had to say, or anyone else for that matter? But here I am and I feel I should explain. I have started to read other people's blogs and feel comfort that sharing what you feel is what you do with friends and that is one of the things I am missing. I have smiled, laughed and enjoyed other people words and have decided to give it a go myself. I am  not under the illusion that anybody will read my blog, other than my husband who will be duty bound to read it and nod gently before telling me its great, just like when I ask him if "Do I look fat in this?"
So lemons and friends. Things can be done without them but why would you want to? Why settle for ok when life can sing and dance like my gin and tonic? So just as I keep lemons in my fridge I am trying to gather friends in a new place.
It is comforting to write even this so here we go blogging......
